ORIENT, OH — A domestic dispute involving gunfire led to the arrest of a man in Orient on Saturday, July 5, after deputies responded to a 911 call reporting an armed individual and multiple shots fired.

According to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 2 pm to a residence on London Road in response to a heated domestic incident. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Ethan Jacobs and a woman arguing in front of the home.

When asked about the reported firearm, the woman directed deputies to a Jeep parked at the residence, where an AR-15 rifle was located. The deputy safely unloaded the weapon and secured it in the patrol vehicle.

Jacobs reportedly admitted to retrieving the AR-15 from the vehicle and firing “warning shots” after feeling threatened during a confrontation with another male resident of the home. He claimed he had jumped from a second-story window before arming himself, citing Ohio’s “stand your ground” law as justification.

Deputies recovered seven spent .223 caliber shell casings at the scene near the vehicle and collected them as evidence. During the course of the investigation, deputies also interviewed multiple witnesses, including a teenage girl and a neighbor who observed the incident.

Pickaway County dispatchers later confirmed that during the initial 911 call, Jacobs allegedly stated multiple times that he intended to kill the other male involved in the dispute. Dispatchers also reported hearing what they believed to be gunshots in the background of the call.

Jacobs was taken into custody and transported to the Pickaway County Jail, where he voluntarily participated in an interview with detectives. His firearm, an Anderson AM-15 multi-caliber rifle, was found to still contain 23 rounds in its magazine and was placed into evidence along with the collected shell casings. Jacobs was charged with Domestic Violence and Aggravated Menacing

The investigation remains ongoing. Charges against Jacobs have not yet been publicly detailed.
