ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Health District (RCHD) is committed to improving the health and safety of the community through a wide range of programs and services, as outlined in a recently released flyer. These initiatives focus on preventing disease, protecting against environmental hazards, promoting healthy behaviors, and preparing for emergencies.

RCHD’s public health nursing services include nurse clinic hours from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays by appointment, offering immunizations, infectious disease investigations, and tuberculosis testing through the Medical Mobile Unit. Wellness services aim to create healthy communities through programs such as Cribs for Kids, Home Visiting, Ohio Buckles Buckeyes, Overdose Prevention, and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

Community services provided by RCHD encompass birth and death records management, the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), mobility management programs, Pathways HUB, and public health emergency preparedness (PHEP). Environmental health programs address animal bites and rabies, the Bainbridge Sewer Project, food safety, household sewage treatment systems, mosquito/vector-borne diseases, plumbing, private water systems, recreation programs (camps, pools, spas, and RV parks), the Tattoo & Body Art Program, and the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF).

As a PHAB-accredited health department, RCHD actively promotes policies, services, and systems that enable good health and works to remove obstacles and barriers contributing to health inequalities. “We strive to improve the health and safety of our community through education, partnerships, policy, and prevention,” the flyer states.
