SOUTH BLOOMFIELD, OH – Authorities in South Bloomfield are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty after several animals—both living and deceased—were discovered at a boat access area off State Route 316 earlier this week.
What began as a hopeful search for the owner of a stray dog has now evolved into a full-scale investigation. Officials have revealed that alongside the dog initially posted to social media, another dog and two cats were also found alive at the scene. Tragically, the remains of five other dogs—believed to have been drowned—were also discovered in the area, in varying stages of decomposition.
Due to the graphic nature of the scene, photos of the deceased animals have not been released to the public.
The South Bloomfield Police Department is working in coordination with the Pickaway County Dog Warden, the Columbus Humane Society, and the Circle Area Humane Society to investigate what is being described as a heinous crime.

“We have several leads and are pursuing all avenues,” officials stated. “However, any information from the public could be critical in helping us bring justice for these animals.”
Anyone with tips or information is urged to contact the South Bloomfield Police Department or speak directly with any village officer.
