LANCASTER, OH – A tense situation unfolded Friday morning on Lancaster’s west side after police responded to a report of a domestic dispute involving a loaded handgun.
At approximately 7:35 a.m. on June 6, the Lancaster Police Department received a 911 call about an intoxicated woman at 801 Harding Avenue who was allegedly armed during a domestic altercation. The woman was later identified as 46-year-old Candice R. Harmon of Lancaster.
Officers responded swiftly and attempted to defuse the situation through negotiation. When those efforts were unsuccessful, the department activated its Special Response Team (SRT) and Hostage Negotiator Team (HNT) to assist.
Authorities secured a search warrant and the SRT ultimately entered the residence. Harmon was safely taken into custody without incident or injury.
She has been charged with one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. Officials say additional charges are under consideration by the Lancaster Law Director’s Office.

Police confirmed that the area is now secure and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
