CHILLICOTHE, OH — Chillicothe Police are investigating a theft reported on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 3:27 PM EDT at 500 Allen Ave, according to a report released on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 07:54 AM EDT. The incident involved the theft of a loaded 9mm handgun from a vehicle after its window was smashed.
The victim reported arriving home between 11:00 PM on May 24 and 1:00 AM on May 25, parking their vehicle on the street. Exhausted, they left their Canik/Century Arms Inc. SFX Rival 9mm handgun, serial number ending in 4785, in a hard protective case under clothing inside the vehicle instead of securing it in the trunk. The next day, they discovered the passenger-side window broken and the firearm missing. A neighbor confirmed a brick from her flower bed was used to shatter the window and noted seeing two individuals on bicycles around 4:30 AM via her security footage, which she is reviewing for further evidence.

Officers documented the vehicle damage, collected a written statement from the victim, and requested the firearm be entered as stolen into LEADS. The investigation remains ongoing as police await potential leads from the neighbor’s security footage.
