HARRISON TOWNSHIP, OH — A tractor-trailer crash occurred in Harrison Township on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 6:36 AM EDT near Ashville Pike on SR-762, according to a Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office report released. The incident resulted in the vehicle rolling over, causing possible injuries and significant delays.

The 2006 black Volvo tractor-trailer, operated by Asafa Belay Birhane, 66, of Columbus, OH, was traveling southbound on US-762 before heading west through a roundabout. The trailer tipped over, causing the entire vehicle to roll onto its side within the intersection. The crash, which occurred under dawn/dusk lighting with foggy conditions on a wet asphalt surface, blocked the two-lane, two-way roadway for over four hours, with the scene cleared by 10:59 AM.

Birhane, the sole occupant, sustained possible injuries and was transported by Harrison Township EMS to Grant Medical Center. He was wearing a shoulder and lap belt, with no airbag deployment, and was freed by non-mechanical means after being trapped. Birhane was cited under Ohio Revised Code 4511.202 for operating a vehicle without reasonable control. The investigation noted potential distractions and an unknown driver condition, with no alcohol or drug involvement suspected.

The vehicle, owned by MTX Logistics LLC of Columbus, sustained disabling damage.
