Update – Two-Vehicle Crash in Pickaway Township Leaves Minor Injuries, One Cited for Traffic Violation

PICKAWAY TOWNSHIP, OH — A two-vehicle crash occurred on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 6:04 PM EDT near Tarlton Road in Pickaway Township, resulting in minor injuries and property damage, according to a report released by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 05:35 PM EDT.

The crash involved a 2020 blue Subaru Outback driven by Julia A. Spiegler, 73, of Nitro, WV, and a 2023 gray Mazda CX-9 operated by Jeffrey T. Prenger, 56, of Dublin, OH. The collision occurred within an intersection when Spiegler, making a left turn, failed to yield the right of way, striking Prenger’s vehicle, which also had a green light. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed by Amnesty. Spiegler was cited under Ohio Revised Code 4511.42 for failing to yield while turning left.

Occupants included two riders in the Subaru, and, 3 riders in the Mazda. All reported possible injuries, with Steven Spiegler and James Dotson transported by Medic 1 to Berger Hospital. Safety equipment, including shoulder and lap belts, was used, and airbags deployed in both vehicles. No alcohol or drug involvement was suspected, and no distractions were noted.

The scene, on a divided, wet asphalt roadway with six lanes and a 55 mph speed limit, was managed under daylight conditions with rain present.
