CHILLICOTHE, OH (May 2, 2025) — A routine traffic stop involving two bicyclists in Chillicothe escalated into a tense arrest Friday afternoon, after one of the individuals resisted police, threatened officers, and attempted to assault them.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, an officer on patrol observed a man and woman riding bicycles eastbound on East Second Street. The pair entered the roadway from the sidewalk without signaling, then turned north into an alley — again failing to properly signal their movement, which prompted the officer to initiate a traffic stop using emergency lights.
The individuals were identified as a male and female, both cooperative at first. However, a check through law enforcement databases revealed the man had an active warrant issued by the Adult Parole Authority.
As officers attempted to place him under arrest, the situation escalated. The man reportedly tensed up, refused to dismount his bicycle, and had to be physically removed and placed on his feet. Once in custody, he began making threatening statements, claiming he was going to kill himself, and later attempted to bite or head-butt one of the officers.

After being restrained and placed in the back of a cruiser, he continued to act aggressively, spitting at officers and shouting violent threats, including that he intended to kill jail staff.
Despite his combative behavior, officers were able to transport the man safely to the Ross County Jail, where he was booked without further incident.
He is now facing multiple charges, including:
- Warrant violation (APA)
- Resisting arrest
- Aggravated menacing
- Harassment by inmate
The woman involved in the stop was not reported to have violated any laws beyond the initial traffic infractions and was not taken into custody.
