CHILLICOTHE, OH (May 3, 2025) — Chillicothe Police responded to a report of gunfire near Glencroft Avenue Saturday evening, ultimately leading to the arrest of two juveniles and the seizure of a firearm.
According to police, an officer was dispatched around 8 p.m. to the 600 block of Glencroft Avenue after a resident reported hearing gunshots and witnessing two youths firing a handgun from a neighboring yard. The individuals were reportedly wearing hoodies and aiming the weapon in the direction of the complainant’s home.
Officers traced the incident to a residence on Liberty Street, where they spoke with a resident who allowed them to inspect the backyard. There, police discovered two 9mm shell casings matching the direction from which the shots were reportedly fired.
Further investigation led officers inside the home, where they located a Taurus G3c 9mm handgun in a juvenile’s bedroom. The firearm contained a chambered round consistent with the casings recovered outside.

Two juveniles were detained and Mirandized on the front porch. While both denied ownership or knowledge of the firearm, one of the suspects admitted the gun was found in his room but claimed, “I don’t know, it’s not mine.”
Investigators also discovered the home’s surveillance camera had recently been repositioned, presumably to avoid capturing the individuals involved. Police requested video footage from the homeowner as part of the ongoing investigation.
Both juveniles were transported to the Ross County Juvenile Detention Center, and their legal guardians were notified. They are scheduled to appear in court on May 5, 2025.
The firearm was taken into evidence, and the juveniles each face a recommended charge of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.
