LOGAN, OH — Emergency crews responded to a dramatic rescue Thursday afternoon after a woman fell approximately 15 feet into a ravine at Cantwell Cliffs in Hocking Hills State Park.

At 1:20 p.m. on May 1, Hocking County EMS, the City of Logan Fire Department, the Hocking Hills Rope Rescue Team, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources were dispatched to the scene. The woman reportedly slipped and fell while hiking in the rugged and scenic area, prompting a swift multi-agency response.

The Hocking Hills Rope Rescue Team navigated the challenging terrain to reach the injured hiker. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, a medical helicopter was unable to respond, and the patient was instead transported by ground to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Officials have not released the woman’s name or the extent of her injuries, but she is expected to recover thanks to the prompt work of first responders.

Cantwell Cliffs, known for its steep drop-offs and winding trails, remains one of the more remote and demanding areas of Hocking Hills. Authorities urge hikers to use caution, especially after recent rainfall, which can make trails slippery and hazardous.
