PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH — A local farmer lost his life Thursday evening after a fire broke out in a field along the 4000 block of Dungan Road.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene around 8 p.m. following reports of a field fire. When firefighters arrived, they discovered a piece of farm equipment fully engulfed in flames, which had ignited a portion of the surrounding field. Tragically, responders also found a man deceased.
Fire crews quickly worked to contain and extinguish the blaze. The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident. The deceased man’s body was transported to Madison County for an autopsy, while the farm equipment was taken to the sheriff’s department for further examination.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim. The investigation remains ongoing.
