Warning: Department of Wildlife Warns of Coyote Aggression During Mating Season

OHIO – Ohio Department of Wildlife says that wildlife aggression of coyotes will be on high for the next several weeks.

The next 4-6 weeks is mating season for coyotes. Please pay attention to your dogs, or cats when outsid. The outcome can be tragic as they can, and will attack your pets. Coyote breeding typically peaks in late February, and early March. Male coyotes can become more aggressive during this time of year. Keep your pets safe!

Last year a Columbus Police Officer was attacked by a coyote inside city limits. That coyote attacked officers several times and even after being tased, had to be shot because of continuous aggression. This can demonstrate how these animals can attack

Even a lone male can be aggressive and kill your pet. Coyote breeding typically peaks in late February and early March, the gestation period averages 58 to 63 days. Male coyotes can become more aggressive during this time of year.
