Trailer Explodes in Lancaster Fairgrounds

Lancaster – On July 3, 2019 at 4:12am, the Lancaster Police Department dispatch center received numerous calls from concerned citizens regarding an “explosion” in the area of the Fairfield County Fairgrounds.

The Lancaster Police and Fire departments responded and located severely damaged property including an enclosed trailer and food truck. Emergency personnel immediately secured the scene and made it safe.

Investigators determined the cause of the explosion originated in the enclosed trailer, but it does not appear the explosion was suspicious in nature.

This incident will have no impact on the planned activities for the city of Lancaster Fourth of July celebration(s).
