PICKAWAY – The Teays Valley Educational Foundation recently awarded Teays Valley West Middle School eighth grade teacher Laura Nungester a grant to purchase books that will focus on the social emotional needs of the students to be used during their book club.
“This grant is important for our students, as we are focusing on helping them cope in this ever changing world. So many of our students write about and talk about being overwhelmed and feeling stressed. As teachers we want to give them the skills and tools to cope with those feelings,” Nungester said. “These books are meant to help give students an opportunity to add to their toolbox of coping skills, focusing on self-help type books that will focus on their social-emotional needs. The titles chosen were recommended by the National Council of Teachers of English and the Project Lit community.”
