ASHVILLE – The Teays Valley Educational Foundation recently awarded a grant for $1,599.99 to Teays Valley West Middle School technology teacher John Hyder to purchase a Parrot Drone Kit to be used by his College & Career Connections classes.
“The technology department at Teays Valley West Middle School would like to thank our Education Foundation for the generous gift,” Hyder said. “I have seen the benefits of our Foundation and the assistance they provide our students. I am very appreciative of their work and contributions to benefit the education of our district. The grant we receive this year will be used to purchase a drone kit that allows students to write the code to fly them. We will use that knowledge to create a scaled version of the logistics process used by companies like Amazon that have been using drones to deliver packages for a few years now. The applications of these digital skills are endless in today’s changing workplace.”
