Robert E. “Bob” Hardy, age 81, Korean War veteran and a resident of the Chilicothe VA Medical Center, passed away on Oct. 5, 2015, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

He was born on Jan. 4, 1934, in Glenwood, West Virginia, to Florence Reed and Cecil Hardy.

Bob is survived by his children, Nancy (Phil Jr.) Karchnick of Groveport, Robert (Brook Nelson) Hardy Jr. of Lancaster, James (Teresa) Hardy of Lancaster and Mary Buehler of Lancaster; grandchildren, Phillip Karchnick 3rd, Amy Karchnick, Tenisha Brown, Cara Hardy, Natasha Blankenship, Amber Buehler and Jessica Buehler; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Edler of Michigan and Margaret Payne of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.

Following Robert’s wishes, caring cremation® has taken place with the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at a later date to lay Robert to rest with his wife, Carol, in Floral Hills Memory Gardens located in Circleville. Military honors will accompany the service for Bob’s service in the United States Army.
