Ruth M. Mendenhall, 88, of Chillicothe, died 12:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born May 24, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late James W. and Ada B. McElmury Moody.
On July 6, 1948, she married the Rev. Dr. Gene L. Mendenhall, who died Jan. 15, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Daniel (Robin) Mendenhall of Kingston; a daughter, Elaine (David) Dunaway of Greenfield; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a daughter-in-law, Patti Mendenhall of Fishers, Indiana; two nephews and a niece.
She was predeceased by a son, Paul Mendenhall; a grandson, Nicholas Mendenhall; a brother, Russell Moody; and a sister, Carol Hemingson.
Ruth was a very active member of the First Church of God. She had worked as a reading tutor. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, in the First Church of God with Pastor Matt Roe and Rev. Greg Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
