PICKAWAY TOWNSHIP – A Circleville woman was killed and another seriously injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash on Hayesville Road at the intersection of state Route 159.
Sandra E. Buckta, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. John Ellis, Pickaway County Coroner.
Buckta was the passenger in a 1995 Cadillac DeVille driven by Jackie L. Pence, 59, who was flown by Air Evac to The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus for treatment following the crash.
According to reports, Pence was traveling westbound on Hayesville Road about 3:06 p.m. and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Route 159. She then proceeded into the intersection and was struck by a southbound 2011 Ford work van owned by Advanced Services.
Both women were entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by members of the Saltcreek Tarlton Fire Department.
The van’s driver, Austin M. Hoagland, 22, of Waverly, was treated and released for minor injuries at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Green Township EMS also assisted at the scene.
