CIRCLEVILLE – Berger Health System celebrates a major milestone on June 30 for providing quality health care services to Pickaway County and surrounding communities.

Eighty-five years ago, Berger Hospital opened its doors as a result of Franklin Berger’s philanthropic generosity and vision for the future.

“Over the past 85 years, Berger has consistently provided exceptional care with expanded medical services to meet the diverse needs of our residents,” said Tim Colburn, president and CEO of Berger Health System. “Throughout Berger’s history, providing excellent health care would not be possible without the support of the community, our physicians, employees, volunteers and volunteer governing boards.”

Berger Health System has strategically grown to improve access to health care by expanding local primary care, enhancing local specialty services as well as implementing state-of-the-art technologies. In January, Berger Health System announced a partnership agreement with OhioHealth to provide expanded local care for patients while remaining a vital community asset.

In 2014 the Joint Commission, the nation’s leading accreditor of healthcare institutions, named Berger Health System a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for the third consecutive year. More than 4,000 hospitals are evaluated nationwide, and Berger’s achievement was only accomplished by 314 hospitals of those surveyed.

“The true measure of our success is ultimately the patients we care for,” Colburn said. “For generations, families have trusted Berger Health System for their medical care. We are proud of the relationships we’ve maintained and created since 1930 when the hospital began caring for patients. Franklin Berger’s concept of providing quality health care close to home is Berger Health System’s commitment today. We are looking forward to the next 85 years and continuing to build on the tradition, commitment and legacy of Franklin Berger.”
