Locals graduate from Miami University

Miami University awarded 3,683 degrees to students during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 13, 2017, in Yager Stadium.

Local students who received degrees are:

  • Demetre Balahtsis of New Holland, Bachelor of Science in Business majoring in Finance
  • Denise Cline of Circleville, Bachelor of Science in Business majoring in Accountancy
  • Matthew Koehler of Orient, Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training majoring in Athletic Training
  • Kristen Mesler of Orient, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science majoring in Computer Science
  • Morgan Pheneger of Circleville, Bachelor of Science in Education majoring in Early Childhood Education Cum Laude
  • Jessica Pipes of Ashville, Master of Science majoring in Speech Path & Audiology
  • Allie Reisinger of Circleville, Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training majoring in Athletic Training
  • Kara Sethna of Ashville, Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology

Locals earn dean’s list honors at University of Akron

Colt Taffe of Ashville, majoring in computer sci-management, and Mark Faris of Circleville, majoring in mechanical engineering tech, recently made The University of Akron’s spring 2017 dean’s list.

To be eligible, students must maintain a semester GPA of 3.500 – 3.999 and was enrolled in 12 or more credit hours.


Jordan named to University of Alabama dean’s list

University of Alabama student Logan A. Jordan of Orient was named to the dean’s list for Spring 2017.

A total of 11,101 students enrolled during the 2017 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the dean’s list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above).


Ashville students earn degrees from Capital University

Capital University conferred degrees at the University’s 167th commencement ceremony in May 2017, including four Ashville residents.

Jadee Davis received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Tatiana Boldrin, Allison Hardin and Taylor Humphrey each received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.


Students make Miami University dean’s list

Miami University students who are ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2016-17 have been named to the dean’s list recognizing academic excellence.

Local students named to the dean’s list include Emily Hughes of Circleville; Sydnee Roese of Ashville; Caleb Wright of Ashville; Anne Cunagin of Circleville; and Hannah Caudill of Circleville.


Capital University names president’s list honorees

Capital University is pleased to announce its president’s list honorees for the spring 2017 semester. The president’s list indicates the highest level of academic distinction. To be named to the president’s list, students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.85.

Locals earning president’s list honors are Tatiana Boldrin of Ashville; Rebecca DeLong of South Bloomfield; Katharine Gerchy of Ashville; Taylor Humphrey of Ashville; Jessica Litz of Circleville; Amanda O’Brien of Orient; and Jacquilyn Richardson of Circleville.


Locals earn dean’s list honors at Capital University

Capital University is pleased to announce its dean’s list honorees for spring 2017 semester. In order to be named to the dean’s list, full-time, degree-seeking students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Local honorees are Heather Barr of Williamsport and Mackenzie McKnight of Orient.


Students named to provost’s list at Capital University

Erin Debo of Ashville and Ian Kusner of Orient recently were named to the Capital University provost’s list for academic achievement in the spring 2017 semester.


University of Dayton announces dean’s list honors

Wallace Huggett of Ashville and Molly Dickson of Circleville recently were named to the University of Dayton’s dean’s list for achieving a minimum 3.5 GPA for the spring 2017 semester.


Youngstown State students named to president’s list

Youngstown State University has announced the names of its top students who were named to the president’s list for spring semester 2017. To qualify, students must have achieved a 4.0 grade point average for the semester.

Laine Bulmer of Circleville is an Early Childhood Education major, and Corie Hoselton of Circleville is a Middle Childhood Education Language Arts major.

Bulmer and Hoselton also were named to the dean’s list, which includes full-time undergraduate students who have earned at least a 3.4 GPA for not less than 12 semester hours’ credit in the semester.


Locals graduate from Wittenberg University

Nothing but blue skies welcomed a standing-room only crowd in Commencement Hollow to celebrate the Class of 2017 as Wittenberg University hosted its 167th commencement exercises on May 13.

Anthony Becker of Ashville and Aaron Huffman of Circleville were among those who graduated at the ceremony.
