Several Teays Valley High School junior students recently were chosen to represent Teays Valley as delegates at the annual Buckeye Boys and Girls State programs in June.

Buckeye Boys State, hosted by The Ohio American Legion will be held at Miami University. Teays Valley delegates are Walker Moore, Christian Moore, Sawyer Kohl, Mark Johnston and Elliott O’Malley.

Buckeye Girls State, hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary of Ohio, will be held at the University of Mount Union. Teays Valley delegates are Shelby Martin, Carley Miller, Cheyenne Van Gundy, Allee Sprague, Kennedy Coey and SueAnne Steele.

At Boys State, the students learn about city, county and state government through a non-partisan objective education approach, while forming friendships with other students across the state.

Girls State is a week-long program designed to educate Ohio’s young women in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of good citizenship.
