Saltcreek Livestock 4-H Club
May 3, 2017, Meeting

Saltcreek Livestock met Wednesday, May 3, in Whisler. The meeting was called to order by President Kaitlyn Hartman, and pledges were led by Piper Stulley and Jessica Hartley. Roll call was done by secretary, Cassidee Disbennet. Members were reminded to pay all dues by next meeting and to get demonstrations completed.

Jason and Kim went over all upcoming dates, which included camp registrations, skillathon and animal possession dates.

Kim went over miscellaneous judging dates. Also recognized were those who participated in the communication contest and those who placed that evening, including Grace Cook, Piper Stulley and Matthew McFarland.

Refreshments were served by Irene Bothel.


Scioto Scrappin’ and More 4-H Club

The Scioto Scrappin’ and More 4-H Club met on Friday, May 19, 2017, for its regular business meeting at the home of Ambrosia, Avalon and Anam Havan. The meeting was called to order by vice president, Ambrosia Havan. Anam Havan led the American Pledge and Makenzie Lange led the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was answered by each member naming the project that they are most excited to take to the fair.

Avalon Havan read the Treasurer’s Report. The club earned $113.51 from the Bake Sale for a total of $453.86. Thank you to everyone at Tractor Supply in Circleville who supported our Bake Sale.

Kassidy Lange gave the Health Report on “How Much Water Do We Need Daily.” Ambrosia Havan gave the Community Service Report reminding everyone that we should report to Scioto Elementary at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, for the Scioto High School Annual Alumni Association Banquet. The Harrisburg Summer Festival will be at the end of the July with the exact dates to be announced at a later time.

Maria Shappert reviewed New Business, which included pre-judging dates of June 2 by appointment only. There is also a Thank You poster contest, and entries are due by June 8. There are several fundraisers for the fairground improvements, including a 5K Barn Run on Saturday, June 10. Volunteers are needed for Skillathon on June 9 and 10. Members will meet at the Havan home on Thursday, June 15, at 6 p.m. to transport the fair booth to the fairgrounds for set up. Poultry check in will be on Sunday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pullorum certificates must be presented for poultry projects to be admitted.

Makenzie Lange created a newsletter with upcoming important dates and events. Congratulations to Ambrosia Havan for being elected vice president of the Teen Leadership Council.

The next regular meeting will be on Friday, June 2, at Havan family’s home. Ehren Woodruff made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Anam Havan second the motion.

Following the meeting, Rhonda Shappert conducted the Educational Portion of the meeting on the topic of “Interview Pointers.” Demonstrations were presented by Ehren Woodruff on Dog Safety, Ambrosia Havan on Ohio Birds, Quilting, Laundry Project, Party Planning, Clothes for High School and College, and Embellishments. Avalon Havan presented her demonstrations on Healthy with Exercise and First Aid in Action. Anam Havan presented his demonstration on Ohio Ponds. Kassidy Lange presented her demonstrations on Making Granola Bars, and Makenzie Lange presented her demonstration on her Baking Project, Leadership project and Board of Directors project.
