CIRCLEVILLE – A 22-year-old Circleville man was killed early Friday morning in a crash on state Route 56 East near Putnam Drive.

Aaron L. Stiltner was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. John Ellis, Pickaway County Coroner.

According to Sheriff Robert Radcliff, a passing motorist called 911 about 6:15 a.m. Friday to report a vehicle off the side of the roadway. Sgt. Gary Barrowman, Corporal Hunter Lane and Deputy Kyle Eveland responded to the scene, along with members of Clearcreek Fire and EMS.

Investigators believe the crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. Friday, based on interviews conducted with family members and area residents, Radcliff said. The scene of the crash was discovered nearly five hours later.

Stiltner was the only occupant of the 1998 Dodge Dakota, which was owned by Allen Pyle of Circleville.

Stiltner was not wearing a seat belt and suffered severe head trauma in the crash, Radcliff said. Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor, and lab results are pending.

The crash remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
