Naomi Jean Johnson, 85, of Chillicothe, died 4:20 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017, in Fairfield Medical Center, following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 24, 1931, in Ross County, to the late John C. and Freda M. Shoemaker Walls.
On Oct. 17, 1951, she married Alonzo Eugene “Wimp” Johnson, who died Jan. 24, 1998.
Surviving are a daughter, Diana Lynn Johnson of Chillicothe; grandchildren, C.J. (Tracy) Hathaway, Jill Hathaway and Amy (Scottie) Rider; great-grandchildren, Drew, Chelsea, Andrew, Cauy, Chloe, Cole and Jada; a brother, Jimmy (Renae) Walls of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece she considered a granddaughter, Christine Simmons.
She was predeceased by a sister, Laura E. Fannin; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Naomi was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Laureate sorority.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in Grandview Cemetery, Chillicothe, with Rev. Lonnie Hamlin officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, at the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
