Mary “Kate” Lemon, age 95, of Ashville, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Logan Elm Health Care in Circleville.

She was born in Circleville on Jan. 22, 1922, to the late Leroy Thompson and Anna Scarberry.

Kate graduated from Ashville Harrison High School as Valedictorian in 1939 and retired from the Ashville Post Office, where she worked as a clerk for over 25 years.

She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and was a Pythian Sister.

She is preceded in death by husband, Jack E. Lemon; daughter, Linda Wellington; grandsons, Paul Wellington and Michael Lemon; sister, Helen Kaufman; and brothers, Jay, John and Millard Thompson.

She is survived by daughters, Susan (Bill) Neal of Ashville and Donna (Bill) Fite of Ashville; son, Jack (Diane) Lemon of Springfield; grandchildren, Bill (Wendy) Neal, Julie (David) Mainella, Amy (Jason) Happenny, Abbey (Paul) Kroeger, Tim Wellington, Mat Lemon and Katie Lemon; granddaughters-in-law, Elise Lemon and Janice Wellington; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Dylan, Alexa, Michael, Olivia, Palmer, Deacon, Sophie, Alisha, Marissa, Derek, Sean, Ian, and Trey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Reber Hill Cemetery, 16810 Winchester Rd., Ashville, with Pastor Ty Myers officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Zion United Methodist Church, 42 Plum St., Ashville, Ohio 43103.
