Candace and John Scribner

John H. Scribner, age 70, of Orient, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at Kobacker House in Columbus.

He was born Nov. 20, 1946. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Jean (Brinker) Scribner.

John graduated from West High School (1964) and served in the US Air Force during Vietnam.

He attended Ohio State and worked as an RCDD certified IT Infrastructure Engineer at IBM for over 20 years before retiring from Chase Bank.

John was a member of Village Chapel United Methodist Church, where he started a men’s ministry. He loved the outdoors and building muscle cars, but most of all he loved his family and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Candace Faye (Canaday) Scribner; children, Shannon (Ted) Maynard of Orient, John Ryan (Shellie) Scribner of Stoutsville, Devin (Erin) Scribner of Hilliard and Sean (Rebecca) Scribner of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; brothers, Thomas (Sue) Scribner of Richmond, Virginia and David (Linda) Scribner of Columbus; sisters, Barbara (Darrell) Vaughn of Hilliard and Gale (David) Williams of Novi, Michigan; grandchildren, Dylan Nesbitt, Jordan Nesbitt, Lindsay Maynard, John Thomas Scribner, Andrew Scribner, Avery Scribner, Noah Scribner, Savannah Scribner, Nathan Scribner and William Henry Scribner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, with funeral service at 11 a.m. at Village Chapel United Methodist Church, 30 Circleville Ave., Ashville, with Pastor Kevin Pees officiating. Burial will follow at Reber Hill Cemetery.

Donations in his honor can be given to Village Chapel in lieu of flowers.
