Herman and Ada Speakman

Herman E. Speakman, 85, of Circleville, passed from this life on Sunday morning, Feb. 19, 2017, in Berger Hospital, Circleville.

He was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Ross County, the son of Forrest C. and Mirla B. (Hupp) Speakman.

On Oct. 15, 1954, he married Ada Cox, who preceded him in death on May 4, 2012.

Surviving are daughters, Carla Case and Beth (Tracy) Barnes, all of Circleville; sons, Jeff (Becky) Speakman of Chillicothe and Todd (Natalie) Speakman of Grove City; grandchildren, Jennifer, Brandon, Kevin, Amanda, Aimee, Christopher, Kaitlyn and Courtney; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jeannine Mowery and Bonnie Jo Samuel, both of Chillicothe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Mark Speakman; son-in-law, Jack Case; and grandsons, Shawn and Brent Speakman.

Mr. Speakman was a Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He was a mechanic for Hardin Chevrolet with 42 years of service, where he ran the wrecker service for many years, and was a member of Bethel U. M. Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home, Chillicothe, with Rev. Lonnie Hamlin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Circleville, with military graveside rites by AMVETS Post 2256. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
