Saddle & Sirloin 4-H Club

Project books were handed out today. Secretary took roll call, and treasurer gave his report.

We talked about social media being playing a major role in getting the word out there for 4-H.

Dr. Kate said that the fairground will be working on renewals. They’re going to rebuild barns and tend to other needs. Funding help is needed.

A Chinese auction will be held on March 11. Donors are needed for the Chinese auction and will receive sponsorship. Half of the proceeds will go to the charity Faithful Forgotten Best Friends.

Camp counselors are still needed for 4-H camp. Contact your advisers for more details. Pickaway County 4-H Camp starts July 15.

Keep a look out for the 5K Chicken Run fundraiser for the fairgrounds.


Westfall Livestock 4-H Club

On Saturday, March 11, and Sunday, March 12, the Westfall Livestock 4-H Club is holding its annual food drive. It will be held at the Wayne Township building on state Route 104. Please help us feed the hungry in our community.


Buttons and Bowls

The Buttons and Bowls 4-H Club has had three official meetings for its 2016-2017 year. The club meets at Saint Paul’s Methodist Church at 7 p.m. every first and third Monday.

On Nov. 21, 2016, the club had its first meeting and discussed the club’s plans for the year. On Dec. 5, 2016, the club had its annual Christmas meeting and party. The members made Christmas cards for nursing homes and made candy cane ornaments.

On Jan. 2, the club elected officers:

The club’s fundraiser, selling candy, will start next meeting and the selling will end in March.

Any member interested in being a camp counselor or applying for a scholarship will need to fill out a form by Jan. 17.

4-H Week starts Jan. 22, and the club will be putting up a window display in Edward Jones Investments in Circleville. Ideas and designs for the window will be decided and worked on at the next meeting.

Project book fees and club dues must be turned in on Jan. 16. The next meeting for the Buttons and Bowls 4-H Club will be Jan. 16.


Creative Clovers
News Reporters: Morgan Keel and Naomi Kinne

The Creative Clovers had its first meeting on Nov. 30, 2016. Sierra Burriss led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Jasmyne Smithberger led the the 4-H pledge.

As old business, adviser Angie Kinne passed out awards from last year.

As new business, the club welcomed new members, Morgan Keel, Jasmyne Smithberger and Katie Reynard. They reviewed and taught members what 4-H is.

The members also did an Interest Inventory checklist that let everyone get to know each other, and Angie talked about Gifts and Talents. They talked about each of the offices and voted on officers. The results of the ballot stand below:

The Creative Clovers decided to start designing club t-shirts. Then the members of the club voted on which craft to do at the next meeting. They decided to make a wood plaque. Leigha motioned for adjournment and Sierra seconded the motion.

The Creative Clovers had a 4-H meeting on Dec. 16, 2016. Katie Reynard led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Leigha McManes led the 4-H pledge.

As old business, members showed their t-shirt designs and the club voted to have Naomi Kinne’s design be the front of the club t-shirts. Members will bring a t-shirt design for the back of the club shirts to the next meeting.

As new business, the club discussed ide’s of activities to do during the 2017 4-H year. Then the Health Officer, Carli Hutchison, and Safety Officer, Katie, gave a tip.

Carli motioned for adjournment, and Sophia Kinne seconded the motion.

As the program, the club had a Christmas party that included eating dinner, making wood plaques demonstrated by guest, Amanda Smithberger, decorating ugly sweater cookies and watching a Christmas movie.


Washington Hill Climbers
News Reporter: Bailey Reid

The Washington Hill Climbers had a meeting on Jan. 10.We elected officers. Our new president is Liz Paul, and our new vice president is Bailey Riffle.We planned our visit to Logan Elm Health Center to pass out Valentine’s Day cards.


Scioto Scrappin & More 4-H Club

The Scioto Scrappin’ & More 4-H Club met on Dec. 16, 2016, for our end of the year Awards Ceremony, Potluck Dinner and our Installation of Officers.

We had our Installation of Officers using the Twelve Days of Christmas as a theme. The following officers were sworn in: President Maria Shappert, Vice President Ambrosia Havan, Secretary Makayla Lange, Treasurer Avalon Havan, Health and Safety Leader Kassidy Lange, Historian Anam Havan, Recreation Leader Ehren Woodruff, News Reporter Ambrosia Havan and Makayla Lange, Community Service Leader Ambrosia Havan, Energy Officer Avalon Havan and Environmental Officer Makayla Lange.

Our next business was our 2016 Awards Ceremony, where advisors Susan McClure-Lange and Rhonda Shappert passed out certificates and pins. The members also discussed and celebrated their successful 4-H year.

Our club was once again an honor club. Makayla Lange won Outstanding Treasurer and Avalon Havan won Honorable Mention with her Historian Scrapbook.

All of our members showed at least one project at the Ohio State Fair, with several winning Outstanding of the Day and clock trophies.
