Laurence E. Priest

Laurence Edward Priest, age 82, of Delaware, passed away Feb. 8, 2017, at the James Cancer Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1935, in Coshocton, to the late Edwin and Helen Priest.

He married Connie S. Priest, and together they shared 27 years of marriage.

He is survived by his children, John (Cammy) Priest and Susan (Steve) McKee; grandchildren, Brandon Priest, Victor Priest, Rexford Priest, Mitchell McKee and Carson McKee; sister, Mary Martin; nephew, Steve Martin; step-daughter, Christina Lochbaum; grandson, Kyle Lochbaum; and special friends, Patrick, Amy, Katelin, Nathan and Noah Maulden.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Clyde Martin; and nephew, Scott Martin.

Laurence was a retired president of Circleville Savings Bank, where he worked from 1979 to 1991. He also worked for the State of Ohio Treasurer Department, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and Kroger Distribution.

He was a member of the AMVETS, VFW, American Legion, former president and district governor of Circleville Elks and honorary Circleville Pumpkin Show Trustee.

Some of his proudest achievements were his graduation from Howe Military School and his service in the 121 Air National Guard stationed in France during the Berlin Crisis.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, for a memorial service at Liberty Presbyterian Church, 7080 Olentangy River Rd., Delaware.

Memorial contributions may be made to the James Cancer Hospital.
