MADISON TOWNSHIP – Six of seven teenagers were injured Saturday night in a one-vehicle crash on St. Paul Road just east of Walnut Creek Pike.

According to reports from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon M. Pack, 17, of Ashville, was driving a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer westbound on St. Paul Road about 10:04 p.m. Saturday when he lost control on wet pavement while navigating a curve.

Pack reportedly over-corrected, and the vehicle slid sideways about 100 yards, according to Deputy Joshua Watts. The vehicle came to a stop when it struck a tree on its right, rear side.

Pack was transported to Berger Hospital for treatment by Harrison Township EMS.

Two of the six passengers, Jacob M. Kuehn, 17, of Circleville, and Jarrod W. Younkin, 18, of Ashville, were reportedly riding in the back of the vehicle without passenger seats, Deputy Watts said. Kuehn was ejected from the vehicle, and he and Younkin were both transported by MedFlight to OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus for treatment.

Cameron S. Phillips, 18, of Lockbourne, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by mechanical means, according to the report. He was transported to Berger Hospital for treatment by Bloom Township EMS.

Tyler Key, 17, of Circleville, and Jared Mefford, 17, of Orient, both were transported by private vehicle to area hospitals for treatment.

Conner G. Gilliland, 17, of Ashville, also was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but he reported no injuries at the scene.

Watts said neither alcohol nor drugs were considered a factor in the crash.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with LifeFlight and fire/EMS crews from Harrison Township, Scioto Township, Circleville, Pickaway Township, Clearcreek Township and Bloom Township.

The crash remains under investigation.
