Dewey Galen Mays, 88, of Circleville, passed away on Jan. 16, 2017.
He was born on Aug. 15, 1928, in Beckley, West Virginia, to Curtis and Sadie (Merritt) Mays.
Dewey was a World War II and Korea Army veteran, retired from DuPont and was a member of AMVETS Post 2256.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Bobbitt) Mays; children, Vickie Stone, Jeanne Valentine, Sonnie Starrett and Kevin Mays; brother, Jack Mays; and sisters, Shirley Pitman, Jean Angel and Betty Phillips.
Dewey is survived by his daughter, Wendi Asher; son, Chris (Melanie A.) Mays; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Midge North and Sharon Rhodes.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at the Wellman Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
