Delmer Richard Rhodes, 80, of Circleville, went to be with the Lord at 4:10 a.m. Jan. 12, 2017, surrounded by his family.

He retired from Becton Dickinson as a polymer scientist after 28 years of service.

When he retired, his hobbies were golfing, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was known for his sense of humor and his great outlook on life.

Delmer was preceded in death by his parents, Delmer W. Rhodes and Opal J. (Doughty) Rhodes.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dale (Ward) Rhodes; his son, Rick D. (Colleen Wegley) Rhodes; his daughters, Belynda K. (Rhodes) Alvey, Melissa (Missi) D. Rhodes and Connie L. (Tim) Ratliff; his granddaughter, Lucresia J. (Alvey) Coleman (Charlie Coleman); and by many cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends that have become family throughout the years.

He was an amazing man, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, with cremation to follow. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local animal shelter in his honor. He loved animals and always had several while growing up.
