Sylvia I. Hammond, 89, of Orient, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1927, to the late Robert and Ethel (Godbey) Robinson at Charleston, West Virginia.
Sylvia was a member of Sterling Chapter #74 Order of Eastern Star. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie R Hammond; sons, Larry and Darrell Hammond; grandson, Travis Hammond; sister, Lucille Rees; and brothers, Robert, Cecil and Ralph Robinson.
Sylvia is survived by her sons, Galen Hammond of Orient and Alan (Lois) Hammond of Darbydale; grandchildren, Tonya Wade and Haley; and great-grandchildren, Savana and Troy.
Sylvia’s family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Gallia Baptist Cemetery.
