Performance Series concerts continue April 7 at OCU

CIRCLEVILLE – Ohio Christian University is set to host the next concert in its Performance Series at 7 p.m. April 7 in the Detty Chapel. The concert is a performance of Spanish music for clarinet and guitar by clarinetist Dr. Leigh Miller and guitarist Dr. Richard Knepp. Admission to the concert is free.

The Carillon Brass recently delighted a Circleville audience with dazzling technique, beautiful lyricism and flawless intonation and blend as part of the Performance Series on the OCU campus.

The Carillon Brass, comprised of principal brass players from the Dayton Philharmonic, performed a delightful concert of varied repertoire, from Zequinha Abreu’s flashy Tico Tico, featuring horn soloist Aaron Brant, to the smooth and flawless flugelhorn playing by Alan Siebert of Louis Armstrong’s sentimental What a Wonderful World. The high level of musicianship achieved by each member of the ensemble captivated the audience throughout the performance. On the lighter side, the humorous and informative introductions given by first trumpeter Charlie Pagnard kept the audience engaged and laughing.

Ohio Christian University’s Performance Series concerts would not be possible without the financial support of local foundations such as the Pickaway County Community Foundation and the Miriam Ruggles Adkins Foundation. The university thanks these organizations, as well as Mary Jane Dean, the university liaison to these organizations, for their continued support of the Performance Series concerts.
