Mary M. and Thoburn Lee Orr

Mary M. (Storts) Orr, 83, of northern Ross County, passed away at home surrounded by family on Oct. 25, 2015.

Mary was born on Dec. 27, 1931, to the late Roy Storts and Frances Lenore Brown Storts in South Salem, Ohio.

Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Robert Brown Storts and Francis LeRoy “Frank” Storts, and their wives; brother-in-law, Marcus T. Orr, and his wife, Jeannie Hommel Orr; and brother-in-law, Jack Reisinger.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Thoburn Lee Orr, whom she married on Aug. 16, 1958, in the South Salem Presbyterian Church. Also surviving her are two sisters, Gail Iraa Storts of Miami, Florida, and Wanda Jean Storts McMurray of Washington Court House and their families; her children, David Kelley (Dionna Hatfield) Orr, Katherine Lee (Mike) Fausnaugh, Rebecca Sue (fiancé Chris Pelletier) Orr, and Wm. Kevin (Davina Miner) Orr; and her grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Orr (Aaron) Minor (and happily anticipated first great-grandchild Baby Minor), Thomas Loren Orr, Ian Michael Fausnaugh, Devin Lee Fausnaugh, William Kelley Orr and Joseph Kevin Orr; as well as her brother-in-law and his wife, Dr. Lowell P. (Geraldine Dunch) Orr; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Orr Reisinger; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary graduated from Buckskin High School on May 17, 1950. She then earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Wilmington College in June of 1954 and taught elementary school for six years.

She and Thoburn met while working at the Ross County Fair. Their deep love for one another weathered many storms and served as a strong foundation for their children and grandchildren.

Mary was a woman of quiet strength and abiding faith, and will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

After her marriage, Mary became a member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Kingston where she served as a deacon, taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.

Funeral arrangements for Mary are under the direction of Ware Funeral Home, 121 W. Second St., Chillicothe. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at the funeral home, with interment in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Kingston.
