Home Explodes in South Columbus, Two Injured in Fire

COLUMBUS – Two people have been hospitalized in a home explosion that happened this morning on the south side of Columbus.

According to Columbus Division of Fire a explosion within a home happened around 6:42 am at The Enchanted Acres mobile home park on Janice Marie Blvd just south of I270. When fire crews arrived they found a fully engulfed structure fire and during the initial sweep of the debris of the home they found two occupants of the home near the structure. Those two people were transferred to to area hospitals for treatment. Fire crews then worked for about a hour to fully extinguish the fire that was hot enough to melt the siding off neighboring homes.

The fire department said that debris from the explosion were extended into the yards of surrounding homes after the explosion. Neighbors from over a mile away heard the explosion happen.

Currently the fire is under investigation to the cause of the explosion and fire. Police were not able to update the condition of the two individuals at the time of posting. We will update with more info when it is available.
