CIRCLEVILLE – After just over a year in operation Foundations4Youth has outgrown its original building on East Ohio Street and expanded into a facility on 424 East Mound Street that offers more.

“With a average of 80 kiddos every Tuesday night it was time to grow,” said David McIntyre Circleville School Resource Officer

Pickaway/Ross is currently utilizing the Mound Street school for education for both adult/children classes as an extension of the other facility in Ross county, but several key components that the school didn’t use were of interest to Foundations4Youth.

David McIntyre Circleville School Resource Officer and one of the leaders at Foundations4Youth said, “that the new location offers several items the old building didn’t. “One of the major factors is safety, at the new location it has access safety in place, volunteers have access badges for the school you can’t just walk into the building, you have to be granted access. We now have a gym with a basketball court, and the gym transforms into a cafeteria with pull out tables, before we didn’t have a designated area for the kids to sit and eat, and gym areas were outdoor green space only. Another new needed space was the kitchen area; now volunteers can prepare foods and serve them from this location its more organized than before. We also have access to two bathrooms, one for girls and one for boys, before we had one single bathroom for all the kids to use. We currently have use of one large classroom that’s being converted to be a craft room/video game room area.”

One of the volunteers at the center said that the kids love to come on Tuesday night, they play games have fun with friends, but the biggest thing is they eat. Some of the kids, not all are targeted for Foundations4youth, kids with less, can come and have fun, play games, homework help, and get fed. This isn’t just a youth center but an outreach for some kids that have needs not met.

Officer McIntyre says that expanding to more than one day during the week is one of the goals Foundations has. In the past YMCA has partnered with the group to offer summer events, swimming, and lunch. Foundations regularly work with local companies to provide food for the youth.

Foundations are open on Tuesday night only from 3-7, it is local non-profit police led organization dedicated to helping the youth in the community. They provide assistance, meals, tutoring, sports, mentoring, and activities to youth at no cost. Loving and caring individuals are encouraged to apply.
