CIRCLEVILLE  – May 7, 2018

This past weekend 4-6 of May, Circleville had a “spike” in overdoses that “was likely because of a possible extremely potent narcotic.”  This press release was released by the Pickaway County Sheriff and Circleville Police.

“The Circleville Police Department and the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office are notifying the community of an unusually high number of narcotic overdoses which have occurred in Circleville and Pickaway County within the last 24 hours. This is likely because of possible extremely potent narcotic products. If you witness an overdose call 911 immediately. Please remain with the person until help arrives so that EMS can quickly locate the victim.”

Circleville Police and Pickaway Sheriff responded by adding more officers and patrols.  “Over the weekend the Circleville Police Department increased patrols due to the sudden spike in narcotic overdoses. During this vigilance, officers had 17 narcotic related service calls during this time. This was in addition to the routine calls. There was a total of three doses of Naloxone (NARCAN) administered by officers to overdose victims.”

Detectives continue working on locating the source of the narcotics. If you see drug activity occurring, call 911 or (740) 474-8888 ext 0 and we can have an officer dispatched quickly to the area.
