Armed with Ski Masks Two People Arrested for Catalytic Converter Theft in Ohio

PREBLE – Two people were arrested after a chase, and were found to have tools needed for a catalytic converter theft.

According to police on March 31st at approximately 3:30 A.M., a Deputy checking a used car lot at State Route 122 & Greenbush Road observed a vehicle in a wooded area near the business. Upon approaching the vehicle, the vehicle fled the area. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and the pursuit began. The vehicle fled east on Greenbush Road and ended near a ravine / wooded area on Oxford Road in Montgomery County.

The male and female in the vehicle fled on foot. A K-9 from Camden PD was called and responded to the area after a perimeter was set up with the assistance of German Township PD, Germantown PD and troopers from the Ohio Highway Patrol. After the K-9 arrived, a track was conducted, and the suspects were found hiding in a wooded area. They were both taken into custody without incident.

Found in the suspect’s vehicle were ski masks, gloves, a car jack, jack stands, chain cutters and other tools used for stealing catalytic converters from cars. The female passenger admitted to traveling to Preble County for the purpose of stealing converters. Deputies located less than (3) grams of methamphetamine, syringes, and drug paraphernalia as well.

James W. Worley, age 44 of Franklin, Ohio is charged with the following in Eaton Municipal Court:

• Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of a Police Officer, 3rd Degree Felony.

• Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a 5th Degree Felony

• Possessing Criminal Tools, a 5th Degree Felony

• Possessing Drug Abuse Instruments, a 2nd Degree Misdemeanor• Illegal use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a 4th Degree Misdemeanor

Shannon L. Lamb, age 33 of Franklin, Ohio is charged with the following in Eaton Municipal Court:

• Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a 5th Degree Felony

• Possessing Criminal Tools, a 5th Degree Felony

• Possession Drug Abuse Instruments, a 2nd Degree Misdemeanor

• Illegal Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a 4th Degree Misdemeanor.

Worley has an outstanding arrest warrant from the Adult Parole Authority and Lamb has an outstanding warrant from Montgomery County.
