HOCKING – A 94-Year-Old man has been rushed to Grant hospital after being caught in a fire at his home.
Around 2:35 Starr Twp Fire Department, Logan Fire Department, Washington Twp Fire Dept, HCEMS were dispatched to East Main Street in Union furnace on two Structure fires on the same property. When they arrived they found the elderly man inside his garage that was on fire. They immediately requested air medical, but the helicopter declined due to weather, the man then was transferred to Grant Hospital with severe burns.
Fire and Police shut down St. Rte 328 for several hours during the fire.
The fire department said that a lawnmower could be the possible cause for the fire, but the Ohio State Fire Marshall would be called in to officially determine the cause.
