Ross County OH- The Ross County Humane Society has issued a Public Service Announcement after they realized a person(s) used a counterfeit bill to pay an adoption fee. Below is the quote from their social media post.

“Public service announcement: Please check your bills before putting into circulation. We received this $100 bill recently as payment for an adoption and didn’t realize until it was too late that it was counterfeit. We realize there is a possibility the person may not have realized they had a counterfeit bill but from here forward, we will be checking cash transactions with counterfeit detector pens. Please realize this is nothing personal against anyone paying cash, but as a small nonprofit we can’t afford to take the loss.
We’ve heard reports of several bulls recently just like this with the same serial #. Please know that newer bills will have a hologram effect on the face, looking at the bill thru light will show a vertical strip spelling the denomination, there are also tiny woven red and blue threads throughout the fabric of the bill. For more info please check here…”
