Vinton County Burglary Suspect Enters Home Pets Dog and Washes Dishes

VINTON COUNTY – On May 6, 2019, around 9:00 am, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a burglary in Hamden. Deputies arrived and spoke with an individual who stated a female came into the residence through the back door, sat down on the couch and began to pet the family dog, Washed the dishes, then left the residence. The victim stated that they did not know the female and the female was not invited into the residence. The victim also stated that the female was acting very strange. While deputies were speaking with the victim, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a female matching the description was knocking on doors in the area of Omar Street in Hamden. Deputy Michelle Thomas arrived and contacted the female suspect. The suspect, Cheyenne Ewing, appeared to the under the influence of narcotics and gave Deputy Thomas a false name. Ewing also advised that she had been up for 2 days. Ewing was arrested and taken to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail and charged with burglary. A bond hearing will be held Tuesday.
