Utility Worker Hit and Killed in Ross

CHILLICOTHE – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash involving a utility worker that occurred on State Route 28 near mile post 17 in Ross County. A 2017 Hyundai Tuscon, driven by Tiffany Simons, 36, of
Chillicothe, was traveling east on State Route 28 when she struck a utility worker, Kyle Rinehart, 31, of Mansfield, who was standing in the roadway directing traffic. The road was limited to one lane due to work on electric lines near the intersection of State Route 28 and Coral Lane. Mr. Rinehart was transported to Adena Medical Center by Chillicothe EMS where he later succumbed to his injuries. Ms. Simons was not injured and was released from the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio Department of Transportation, Chillicothe EMS, Union Twp. EMS and FD, Twin Township EMS and Medflight assisted on scene.
