UPDATE: Woman Killed in Semi Vs Car Wreck on US-23

PICKAWAY – Around 9:40 am on February 24, 2020 a call came into Pickaway County Sheriff 911 system of a Semi vs car accident just south of Orr road on US-23.




According to Pickaway County Sheriff the driver of the Kia Soul was driving Northbound on US-23 this morning when she experienced a flat tire on her car and pulled to the side of the road and called for assistance. While waiting in her car a Semi-truck driven by Eagle Buildings, LLC from Leesburg Ohio was heading Northbound on US-23 with an oversized load of a large barn structure hit the Kia with the overhang of the barn. The high impact collision sent the Kia off the right side of the roadway and parts of the 30 foot structure were tossed all over US-23 Northbound and into the Median.

Christina Hertenstein, 41 was pronounced dead at the scene, the semi driver was not hurt in the incident and there were no passengers with Hertenstien.

According to ODOT on the scene Eagle Buildings, LLC overhangs and paperwork was approved and had no violations on overhang.

Pickaway Township Fire, Circleville Fire, Pickaway Sheriff, Ohio State Highway Patrol, ODOT, OSP Motor carrier unit, and accident reconstruction specialists from Pickaway and Fayette were on the scene.

The accident is still under investigation at this time, we will update with more information when it becomes available.
