CIRCLEVILLE – Two candidates for mayor have been officially certified today by the board of elections.
Don Mcilroy (R) current mayor, made his 3rd term run known during a rebuttal against raising the mayors pay in council meeting in December of 2018. Mcllroy won in the primary election against Councilman Tom Spring. When those votes were all counted Mayor Mcllroy won the Republican seat by 66% of the votes cast with 492 votes to Tom Spring’s 258.
Brad Prickett (I) has been officially Certified, and said when asked why he’s running, “I’m proud to announce that I am now an officially certified to be on this November ballot for Circleville Mayor. RESIDENTS FIRST is what is needed, and I know I am able to make this happen. Please be on the lookout for upcoming discussions on issues affecting the residents of Circleville, along with some scheduled meet and Greets around the city!”
Chuck Taylor (I) has officially been Certified and you will see him on the ballot in November. Taylor is a former Circleville Mayor, in fact he was the mayor before Don Mcllroy in the mid 2004-2008.
Other significant news is that Zack Brooks (I) was not certified for his run for council-at-large position. Zack has attempted to run for city positions the past two election cycles. Brooks was only 18 when he ran for council the first time.
With Brooks not being certified that leaves three candidates running for three positions for Council at Large
Michelle Blanton, (R) currently a Council woman in the at large position, Katie Logan Hedges (R), currently a Council Woman, and Tom Klitzka (R) a former councilman.
All other city positions are running unopposed this year.
