Shaun M. Lawson

The Fourth District Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of Shaun M. Lawson for aggravated murder, burglary, grand theft and conspiracy to commit murder.

Lawson was convicted Aug. 13, 2014, by a Pickaway County jury for the March 2014 murder of his grandfather, Thomas Whitson, in Orient.

Whitson was discovered in his living room with a gunshot wound to the head, and seven guns had been taken from his home. Lawson was charged after three of those guns were found in his possession by deputies from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Lawson is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole for aggravated murder, plus 11 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder, plus three years in prison for using a firearm in commission of the crime. He was sentenced by Judge P. Randall Knece in Pickaway County Common Pleas Court.

Lawson, 31, is currently incarcerated at the Warren Correctional Institution.
