Concert kicks off busy season for Circleville choir

CIRCLEVILLE – A choir concert Tuesday night kicked off a busy season for the Circleville High School choir department, which will compete at district contest, perform in its first-ever show choir competition and present “Seussical, the Musical” in the coming weeks.

Under the direction of Cynthia Braswell, the Circleville Symphonic Choir will perform at the Ohio Music Education Association district contest at 9:40 p.m. Friday at Westland High School. Students performed their contest selections at the pre-contest concert held Tuesday at the high school.

On March 14, the Circleville Show Choir will compete at the Teays Valley Classic show choir competition at Teays Valley High School in Ashville. Braswell said her students are excited to compete for the first time in the school’s history and have been working hard to perfect their show. Circleville is set to perform at 10:30 a.m.

The music and drama departments also will present “Seussical, the Musical” at 7 p.m. March 20 and 21 and 3 p.m. March 22 in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $7 in advance through March 18 or $8 at the door. Tickets may be purchased in the office at the high school during school hours or through EZ Pay for students and parents.
