ASHVILLE – One person was hospitalized and one was taken to jail following a two-car crash Sunday morning on state Route 752 at Walnut Creek Pike.

Lynsey M. Barnes, 19, of Circleville, was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of multiple injuries, according to Sgt. Gary Barrowman, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Terry L. Reed, 70, of Ashville, declined treatment at the scene but was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Barrowman said Barnes was traveling northbound on Walnut Creek Pike in a 1998 Chevy Impala about 8:17 a.m. Sunday when she failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by Reed’s 2009 Chevy Silverado that was traveling eastbound on Route 752.

The crash impacted the driver’s side door of the Impala, and both vehicles rolled into the grassy area at the northeast corner of the intersection.

Barrowman said Barnes was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She was extricated from the vehicle by emergency crews and transported to the hospital by Harrison Township EMS.

Though not considered at-fault in the accident, Reed was transported to the Pickaway County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Rescue crews from Harrison Township, Scioto Township and Circleville assisted at the scene, and Fletcher’s Towing removed the damaged vehicles.
