James E. Roese

James Edward “Jim” Roese, 73, of Circleville, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at the Chillicothe VA after an extended illness.

He was born March 26, 1942, in South Bloomfield, the son of Ira and Vera (Rathburn) Roese.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucille Webster, Linda Casto, Karen Sullivan and Edith Crosby; and brothers, Dick and Bobby Roese.

Jim graduated from Walnut Twp. School and then went to work at Blue Ribbon Dairy and Dean’s Potato Chips. He then went to the Army and served with the 592nd Transportation Company during the Vietnam War. Jim was a charter and lifetime member of VFW Post 7941 in South Bloomfield and was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 2256 where he had twice served as Post Commander and was a member of the Honor Guard for many years.

He retired from the Container Corporation in Circleville.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Pauline (Scarberry) Roese; son, Mark (Kristy) Roese; daughter, Melissa Fullen; grandchildren, Emily and David; sister, Patty (John) Sharp; many nieces and nephews; and special canine companions, Carmie and Lady.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Twp. Cemetery with military service provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
