Harry W. “Bill” Boyer, 80, of Amanda, passed away on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Lanfair Center surrounded by his family.

He was born May 19, 1935, in Lancaster, the son of the late Harry L. and Clarabelle (Burberry) Boyer.

Bill was a 1953 graduate of Lancaster High School, served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, and was a member of the Amanda Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post #57 in Amanda.

He was a drycleaner for over 50 years and retired from Fashion Vanity Cleaners.

He is survived by his wife, Jeane (Thomas) Boyer; daughter, Ginger (Mark) Vannoy of Amanda; step-children, Michael and Bobby Williams, both of Newark, and Edward Williams of Sarasota, Florida; three grandchildren, Brandy Vannoy, Greg and Kendra Nemetz; three step-grandchildren, Alisha Ochs, Nick and Michael Williams; and one step-great-granddaughter, Lilith Jeane Ochs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen (Young) Boyer; daughters, Melody “Bucky” Boyer and Charlotte Nemetz; step-daughter, Peggy Behrens; and a sister, Beverly McClellan.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Revs. Julian Taggart and Liz Tietz officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family would like contributions to be made to Alzheimer’s Association in Bill’s memory.
